Name a fruit you love and maybe it is the key to your perfect skin. Fruits are super foods you should add to your daily routine: it’s proven that eating regular portions of some fruits will nourish and prevent early aging of skin.
Take note of the fruits that will make your skin look healthier and eat them on a regular basis as it wouldn’t work if you just have them once in a blue moon… You are what you eat, specially when you want a healthy and radiant skin.

KIWI

Kiwi is packed with Vitamin C. It even contains more Vitamin C than oranges: every 100 gms of kiwi has about 98mg of Vitamin C, while the same weight of oranges contains about 54mg. Vitamin C keeps skin looking younger and fresher. Vitamin C is a very potent antioxidant that protects your cellular DNA against damage caused by free oxygen radicals. They also contribute in preventing wrinkles. A study by Iwasawa H, Morita E, Yui S, Yamazaki M. suggests that antioxidant effect of kiwi is stronger than that of grapes and oranges.
Try to eat a kiwi a day in the morning, before breakfast, with your salad, with your cereal, in a smoothie… You can choose from regular kiwis to golden kiwis. All are super healthy fruits for you and your skin.

They safely whiten and lighten skin and promote an even tone by reducing acne marks and blemishes. Consume citrus fruits, like lemon, oranges or mandarins to get clear skin. Lemons are power-packed with vitamin C, which is important for the skin. Having a glass of warm water with lemon juice on an empty stomach every morning works as an effective skin cleanser. And we also think that lemonade is the best way to “eat” a lemon. If you need, add some sweetener go for honey, it’s also good for your health and skin. You can also make a lemon sorbet or a lemon curd, lemon cake… Anything it’s welcome if it’s for this good cause.

STRAWBERRIES

Berries, like blueberries, strawberries or cranberries are rich source of antioxidants, which work for rejuvenating your skin. Naturally lightens and tightens skin. Apart from a high Vitamin C content, strawberries also contain  salicylic acid (used for acne treatments). Strawberries also contain a powerful anti-oxidant called ellagic acid, proven to prevent the destruction of collagen that leads to wrinkle formation. Ellagic acid has a photo-protective effect that guards against UV damage.
You can make lots of recipes with strawberries, but the best way to eat fruit is raw. Go for a salad plenty of beautiful strawberries with some mint and yogurt or frozen yogurt. Try new dishes such a warm salad with apple, chicken, strawberries and some greens… There are a lot of recipes and ways to eat strawberries. Our favorite one is with orange juice and some honey, or as a treat, with some whipped cream (if you want to go vegan try whipped coconut cream).

APPLES

You must have heard that an apple a day keeps the doctor away. By eating apples, you can have nicely toned and conditioned skin. Apples also contain pectin, a starch ingredient which is helpful in preventing acne. They are the richest source of malic acid (also known in the health world as alpha hydroxyl acid) that is gentler than other acids, and it’s used in beauty treatments. It promotes healthier, firmer and youthful looking skin by renewing skin cells without damaging the skin layer.
You may also consider the high fibre content in apples. Fibre helps to clean out the colon and promotes regular bowel movements, hence promoting clear pimple-free skin.
We love to eat apples raw, we peel them if they’re non organic. But if you can get good quality apples, eat them all! And make juice, apple tart, a big fresh salad with lots of goodies or a smoothie! Just a tip: apples go well with blueberries.

BANANAS

Bananas contain high levels of potassium, which helps moisturizes and hydrates the skin, making it look fuller and youthful. We love to make cakes with bananas. It helps us reducing the amount of calories and the amount of fat in our bakings. So, don’t be afraid of baking lots of banana cakes and breads (watch out the fat you’re using!) But bananas are the best fruit to add to a smoothie, to a fruit salad, as a side to your pancakes… And there’s a delicious purée we made for kids: a smashed banana, a cookie, some honey or sugar and the juice of an orange. Papaya contains a large amount of Vitamin A/Beta Carotene and an important enzyme, Papain, a powerful antioxidant. It counters free radical damage on skin and also helps heal damaged skin by speeding up cell regeneration. You can also mash it and apply to skin for a youthful bright glow.
Eat it fresh, in salads, with rice, pasta… It’s delicious in a salad with smoked salmon, some fresh onions, capers and papaya. Everything cut in cubes. With the dressing you prefer (we use olive oil and some chili). Add some greens and you won’t be wrong with this salad!

PINEAPPLE

Pineapple contains an large content of natural bromelian, an enzyme that has special benefits for skin as a gentle exfoliant. Pineapples also contains anti-oxidants that neutralize free-radical damage. This is a fruit that hydrates and softens skin from the inside out and lightens blemishes, resulting in clearer-looking skin. Use pineapple juice or pulp topically to help clear off dead skin and reveal beautiful, glowing skin.
No matter how many skin care products you apply to the outside of your skin, if you aren’t eating healthy food to nourish your skin from within, your skin will look unhealthy and undernourished. If you are loading up on sugary drinks, junk food and processed snacks, you are very likely to have acne prone, dull looking skin.
