A sure-to-be-coveted offering of Starboy’s favorite wardrobe staples with pieces that incorporate the singer’s ‘XO’ label.
The Weeknd aka Abel Tesfaye has now scored his second major fashion campaign after Puma. The two-time Grammy winner took to Instagram to announce that he’s starring in the latest campaign for H&M’s 2017 “Spring Icons” Selected By project. First announced last year, The Weeknd x H&M collection is set to drop at H&M stores around the globe on March 2. H&M has teamed up with one of the biggest stars of the moment.
The brand has made a habit of teaming up with big names in style—whether it’s a designer label like Alexander Wang or a celebrity like David Beckham. While Beckham selected a slate of modern essentials for the Swedish label in a project that lasted for multiple seasons, the Toronto native’s Tesfaye himself will be selecting their “Spring Icons”. If you’re looking to pick up the latest trends in menswear for less, few retailers are a better bet than H&M.
The superstar has curated a complete wardrobe of essential pieces, with a strong streetwear vibe running throughout. “I had a great time selecting my Spring Icons at H&M. I love the mix of urban pieces like bombers and hoodies with tailored shirts and blazers. Every piece is both effortless and fresh, which is just how menswear should be,” said Abel.
As you’d expect, the offering is chock-full of the kinds of things The Weeknd always wears. We’re talking staples like bomber jackets (of which there are two versions), graphic tees, hoodies, slim jeans (both in dark and light-wash varieties), and even one superstar-approved biker jacket. And just like The Weeknd likes ’em, the fits are all styled to be slim.
Andreas Lowenstam, H&M Head of Design for menswear, said: “Abel’s taste and style perfectly fits the menswear mood of the season at H&M. He has such a great eye for the little details that matter, and for mixing together updated men’s classics for the perfect tailored streetwear look.”
There’s also a few pleasant surprises in the mix, like a lightweight, double-breasted, belted coat.
We can’t help but note the business-savvy move of getting his own XO logo into the mix, too. The Weeknd’s XO insignia is a reoccurring motif and can be seen adorning hoodies, bomber jackets, and sweaters. Stand out pieces include the badass motorbike jacket, Asia-inspired shirts, and a zip-up work shirt. Faux suede, pleather, and cotton are but a few of the materials utilized.
Both the Puma and H&M partnerships will no doubt be expansions on offerings that the musician will have as tour merchandise on the just announced Legend of the Fall World Tour.
