Get the athleisure look
Is becoming bigger than a trend: designers, retailers, and every fashion conscious human being in the world are obsessed with clothes appropriate for either athletic or leisure pursuits, or both. Clothes that are designed well and stylish.
Fashion companies are getting into the game with clothes described as “après sport” or “gym-to-the-office” and people wearing yoga pants or leggings anywhere.
It’s significant the launch of Net-a-Sporter, a new channel from the online retailer Net-a-Porter dedicated to “sportswear that is as chic as everything else in your closet.” This includes basic Nike tanks and luxury items like a Karl Lagerfeld sweatshirt.
The latest incorporation to this street smart fashion evolution is Beyoncé with her Ivy Park collaboration with Topshop: it was announced back in October 2014 that Beyoncé was setting up her own ‘athleisure’ brand in partnership with Topshop, and it recently hits stores on the 14th April. 200 pieces of sportswear, with Ivy Park branded sweat bands, leggings, t-shirts, sliders and more. In a video we can see Beyonce swimming, cycling, running (with Blue Ivy on her back) and dancing in the pieces. The activewear brand is sold online and instore at a number of retailers including Topshop, Nordstrom, Zalando, Net-a-Porter, Selfridges and JD Sports.
